anybody here interested in going through thier junk drawers to offer up old/seldom used gear to help out other financially strapped photo enthusiasts along with thier hobby?
I'd hope anybody that offers/recieves anything (for postage more or less) would on thier honor, not resell items for profit, but rather pay it forward to others or donate it to kids wanting to learn photography.

to kick the ball off..
I have a 70-200 tak, in good condition to give away. pm me if interested.

I'm still building my collection so dont have much stuff laying around...
Another thing we could do, is trade. You get something in return and everyone gets to try something new

I've got a Kiron 2x TC to give away

I'm skint and I need a 600mm if anyone has one spare

Seriously though, that is a good idea Don, but what about asking the receiver to also donate a small amount to a charity of their choice. I have just done exactly that with an old laptop I had, the guy that got it is going to make small weekly donations to British Heart Foundation.

We could do the following.

Whoever wants to share their unused items can post here saying what he wants in return:
>Postage cost
>Trades
>Donation
>Take out the garbage for them...

Even lending if people are willing to do it.

Is anything happening with this? I'm not so sure that people aren't more likely to be "swapping" by buying and selling on eBay....

I think it is a splendid idea, as I think Don was suggesting charitable donations of unused kit to those less fortunate.
K20D and a substantial user manual to wade through

I'm starting to gather some gear form buying camera + lenses lots.
I suppose this happens to many of us.
Those small bits and pieces we dont really use and are hard to sell could easily be put here for trade or give away.

For example straps, shutter cords, a P30n no one wants (:cry...

I recently got a small, lighweight, Jessops Atlantic 3PQ (?) tripod which is kind of nice, but I dont trust it with my K10D and most of my lenses. Its not for me, but could suit someone else. Trade?

Looks like people aren't enthusiastic about the idea...

Think most people think it a good idea, just needs a push to get it going.
