Parcelfarce Rant

Ordered a lens yesterday from SRS and was pleased to be told it would be with me today, nice lady at SRS said to ring this morning for the tracking number.

Had a look on the Parcelfarce website and for some reason a parcel sent by a 24 hour service from Watford to Cambridge has been routed from the main hub in Coventry to Cleveland
(the one in the North East I hope and not Ohio, who knows though)

Rang PF customer services who confirmed it won’t be with me today, so I ask about tomorrow? No, they don’t deliver Saturday, so it’s Monday perhaps.

Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but was looking forward to having a play. Just amazes me that a correctly addressed parcel (they confirmed it was) can go so far astray
Probably even more annoyed because this isn’t the first time I have had problems with this lot

Sorry about that, but been a bad week

Cheers

It's the same mysterious force that gets a correctly addressed package go missing for several weeks, eventually find its way back to the sender and have to be re-sent.

It begs the question why not just deliver it.

No doubt there is some reason in the scheme of things. If only I could find it.
Best regards, John

Can SRS reclaim the delivery fee as PF haven't provided the 24 delivery?

I can top that. My car insurance renewal, due tomorrow, was posted to me on 4th January 2009. It arrived last week. But then, this is Spain.

I do have to admit though, my car insurance renewal is nowhere near as exciting as a new lens.

Apparently so, luckily for me I didn't pay being a forum member, if I had sure I would be wanting a refund

Not been a good week, had the washing machine and oven go wrong, found a wasp nest on my extension roof and then whilst destroying the nest found that the flat roof needs replacing

Think I wasted my money on the lottery this week

That is a bad week for sure.

You probably need a new lens for comfort....

Reckon I do John, lucky I bought it before I found out about the roof

Maybe it will be a good'un and that will herald in a much better week, still optimistic

Thanks Bob, these things happen and nothing compared to what some people deal with all the time.

Would have liked a 16-50, but went for the cheaper 16-45 in the end

Have really got into photography a lot more recently, used to be happy with my K100D Super and kit lens for the occasional pic here and there.

Age caught up with me a bit and my main mountain biking hobby became increasingly hard on my body. Always liked being out and about so it was a very natural transition to picture taking along with a bit of much more leisurely cycling
Shame that its coincided with my daughter heading off to university, so cash is a bit tighter than in previous years

Very happy with my K200D though and a few cheap lenses, can only look at the dearer ones for now, but doesn't diminish the pleasure at all
Hoping this new lens will be a bit sharper and judging by the reports here is actually very good value for money

Cheers

Don't you just love our postal systems. What will happen if Gordon sells the PO of to Holland, parcels from Watford to Cambridge via Amsterdam?

Still...

Enjoy the lens when it arrives.
Cheers, HG

K110+DA40, K200+DA35, K3 and a bag of lenses, bodies and other bits.

Mustn't forget the Zenits, or folders, or...

PPG entries.

So that you don't feel its only you, and possibly to share the woes around a bit, I had a very bad start to this week.

I wrote off my DA*16-50 on Monday:

My wife, Jane, & I decided to go out for a walk very early on Monday. Part of the walk, about 2 miles out, involved a steep downward slope on which I slipped, lost my footing and fell down the slope.

After I had climbed back up again inspection revealed quite a bit of skin missing on my right forearm, a blooded knee sticking out of a tear in my trousers and taking the camera out of its bag the damage to the lens above. Fortunately no bones were broken and I was able to walk back home. My K20D also appears to have survived.

Just to add salt to the wound, when nearly home, I realised I had lost my glasses in the fall and had to go back, climb down, find them fortunately intact, and climb back up again.

The scratches and grazes are healing up nicely although they are now itching a lot!

Worried about the hike in lens prices I had a hunt round and bought a replacement at the old price from Park Cameras which arrived on Tuesday and it appears to be better than my first batch original, not needing any focus point adjustment.

As an aside if anyone needs a lens hood, cap or soft case for this lens I suddenly have a spare set

Alls well that ends well although my pride and wallet are still a bit sore.

Brown selling the Post Office won't make any difference to leytono's or anyone elses parcels using Parcelforce, as Parcelforce is not owned by the post office

Well it will make a change from parcels, magazines etc sent from the UK to near Amsterdam coming via Germany or Switzerland which is what they do now.Even when sent priority/airmail they still seem to take a week to get here more often than not. The PO has a contract with TNT's rivals Deutsche Post so these things are delivered by DP's privatised subsidiary. When they feel like it. Their delivery people can deliver whenever they like within a week of receiving the post.

Not that TNT are perfect - they manage to lose things and send them all round the houses too.

leytono I hope you enjoy your lens when you finally get it.

GlynM I feel your pain. Glad nothing more serious was broken. Is it covered by insurance perhaps?

Actually they DO have a Saturday delivery service. It is referred to at:
http://www.parcelforce.com/portal/pw/content1?mediaId=25800698&catId=25800695
Yes it is a service for which they charge extra BUT as they messed up they should waive that and deliver tomorrow.

Get back onto them and give them hell - they are in breach of contract and are failing to rectify it.
