I was 'around the corner' at west Wittering yesterday - we had somewhat brighter weather (As in a fairly clear sky for a good part of the day! Like Chris, number 3 is my favourite - a good b&w tonal range and balance of sky and sea with foreground interest with the groyne

I like no. 3 the best, good detail in the clouds. Although i would be inclined to crop or clone out the pole on the left.

Apparently the pole marks the remains of one of the Mulberry Harbour elements from the war. That's one reason why I kept it in, the second was that the rocks formed a perfect 'lead in line' to it. But as Peter notes - "to pole or not to pole...?"
However, I'm pleased that you like the conversion.

There are some nice muted colour tones here, in fact the colour ones are almost monochrome! It adds a certain serenity which goes well with the location and time of year.
I do notice you tend to chop things off ....eg the groynes and rows of rocks. I'm sure this is you working to isolate elements within the scene, and concentrate attention. However I do wonder if the compositions would be stronger with a wider sweep and allowing the full lines of objects to be within the frame .....?

Thanks for your observations.
There are a variety of reasons why I have done this with these images, but the principle one was that the foreground was rather uninteresting shingle. As a result I cropped to give either a (strongish) lead-in line, or to put the horizon at a level that was pleasing to my eye.
The limited tonal range was also something I was going after, and I have others from the same shoot where this is probably even more pronounced. This is something that I'm still just playing with as I have previously tended towards much more saturated colours.
