Packing problems

having sorted out what is actually travelling with me - am looking at HOW it's travelling.

Taking Camera + zoom lens + 40mm Lens + flash , plus assorted spare cards , flash drive, lens cloths etc etc [ batteries will go in pull along case ] Will also take lappy and a small bag for putting camera in once arrived - this should also take the flash

Just got out the 2 back packs -

a Techair very safe lappy backpack with a very good central compartment plus another one for bits and bobs.

My Lowepro Fastpack 250.

Did a very interesting trial

Weight of Lowepro with camera and gubbins in - 13 pounds [ this did not include the bag for use once at destination. ]

weight of Techair with camera + bag for use with it away, plus the other bits and bobs 11pounds !!


Now the less I have to carry the better. Looks as if the Techair is the winner and believe me I have ensured that the camera is well protected for travel.

Can anyone see any snags with this ?

Of course I still have to put in tickets etc etc - but they will be the same in each backpack. All computer cables , chargers etc will be in the pull along .

I'm travelling from home to London by train , crossing London by public transport to a friend's for 2 nights , then back into St Pancras at silly o'clock for Eurostar to Brussels then local Belgian train to final destination.

Which is the more comfortable to carry? I think that might be the deciding factor if there are only a couple of pounds difference.

Choose the most comfortable. You really won't feel a couple of pounds extra on your back if the back pack is comfortable.

Otherwise consider packing the zoom and/or flash in your pull along, well protected by your clothes.
