P67 45mm or 55mm lenses?

Hi All,

I've seen various threads in various places discussing the differences between these lenses. As I already have the 75mm f/3.5 and thinking the 55mm is quite close to that, I'm probably looking for a 45mm.

That is unless the above is too simplistic or there are other factors to consider (aberations etc?). Any thoughts?

I would do exactly the same. 55mm is a bit close IMHO.

Yes it is I have the 45mm , it is a wonderful lens. It corresponds to roughly 22,5mm in 24x36 format, but on the Pentax 67 this is really w i d e. I can recommend some fantastic Pentax 67 images with the 45mm by the Estonian photographer Margus Sootla. He is also an expert drum scan operator. For instance the first five images in his photostream are with the 45mm:

Here is my 45mm f4 SMC Pentax I bought in Seattle USA in 1992 much cheaper than UK BUT the next day was 'Black Wednesday' when the pound plunged so it went UP in cost on my Credit Card !

You can't really go wrong with that. The quality of a 67 transparency is just amazing.

Quick update, I have now acquired an SMC Pentax-6x7 45mm f/4. The only results I've had back so far have been quick test shots but it looks a superb lens.

Good luck I want to try some similar lens. I have basic one, smc takumar 105 2.4, and it is already amazing lens. But wanna try some wider one

As I already had the 75/4 (which is also very good) and not the 105, I find the 45 perfect (but it is very wide). Had I had a 105 I might have gone for one of the 55s (there are 'old & 'new' versions I think), but had I seen the 45 first, I might not have done - if that makes sense.

Although the 645Z is a pipe-dream at the moment, I have priced a 67->645 adapter but I'm not sure what the 45, 55 & 75 '645Z equivalent' focal lengths* would work out as yet?

* EDIT - I do of course mean 'angles of view'.

EDIT - The 45 equates to 36 (on 135), the 55 equates to 43.5 and the 75 presumably to 60mm.

What's the costing on the 67>645 adapter?
