I have a P30 which I have had for many years. Last week it developed a problem where the back will not stay shut reliably. It appears to lock shut then it pops open. This is not good

Any thoughts on what I can do about this?

You could send it to Harrow Technical for service and repair. They did an excellant job of my old ES last year that had also developed a similar film door problem. The cost was about 80 GBP, but worth every penny.

local to me are a branch of London Camera Exchange and a branch of Jessops.

Anyone used them for repair?

I wouldn't. Harrow Technical or Asahi Photo are my recommendations. They both have trained technicians working for them, not gap year students.

To be honest, it might be cheaper to replace it from that well known auction site. The P30 goes for next to nothing. You could always upgrade to one of the MZ series as an alternative. JohnMcD on here has an excellent MZ5N and a Z1P for sale (and I'm not on commission). Then again, Gary Moffat has a K10D + kit lens for sale at a reasonable price too (just don't ask him why he's selling, 'cause he won't say ).
