OptioS50: Problems Downloading Pics

Posted 19/05/2006 - 17:41 Link
Up to now the system has worked perfectly, but I haven't used the camera for some months and now have problems.

The camera will take pics, but won't download them as it did previously. I have recharged the batteries, but when I connect it to my computer nothing happens. I used to get the pics downloading automatically when I connected and switched it on.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi valleyclose, and welcome to the forum.

The first thing to check is that the computer is ercognising the camera as a drive. Once you've connected the camera, go to My Computer and check to see if you've got an extra drive. It will usually come up as a removable drive. If so, double click it to open, and search the folder(s) for your images.

If you don't see the new drive, then the first thing to do would be to reinstall the software that came with the camera, and see if that works.

Third, get hold of a card reader, and check to see that the card can be read. It's possible that the card could have been corrupted, or that one or more of the connectors on the card has some corrosion on it, from being left for that amount of time.

This list isn't exhaustive, so try the above and let us know how you get on. There are better people than me here, so we'll get you sorted out if we can.

Cheers

if your using a mac, you'll need to check your settings for Image Capture (in your applications folder) and/or preferences in Iphoto.

I had this and it turned out to be a software issue. When I installed the *ist DS stuff it disabled the S50 software. I'm with Liamd on this.

Thanks everyone. I have cured the problem by reloading the software.
