OPTIO WP Screen Trouble

My 2 year old Optio WP stopped displaying the live "composition" image or the created images (after the shutter is depressed) or videos. The camera displays the mode, battery life, focus area, etc but not the actual image.
Strangely, I can view past archived images and video.

I have just updated the lastest firmware.

Is there anything I am missing or is the camera "toast"? If the later, I assume I just throw it in the trash as it can't be cost effective to have it repaired right?
