Optio S6 video playback jumps

Hi, hope someone can help.
Optio S6 video function -- Good video clips taken. Playback on the camera itself looks good. But after downloading to my laptop & on viewing the video clip on Windows Media Player 10, the clips keep jumping frames/ look disjointed. Why is that? How can I fix it such that it plays smoothly on the computer?

Hi Suiwong, and welcome to the forum,

it may be that you don't have the correct codec for playing that particular type of file (DivX).

Download this player..

http://downloads.theregister.co.uk/Windows/Music/MultimediaPlayers/divx.html

and see if it plays correctly. If it does, you'll need to check for updates to WMP for the correct codec, if there is one.

Many thanks for prompt and helpful advice Liam. It worked!
Downloaded the DivX and also WMP updates -- so not sure which bit exactly was the one that solved it, maybe a combition of it all.
Any ideas what best programme for editing clips -- e.g. only to keep the middle part of a clips for powerpoint presentation?

As long as you are running XP, the built-in Windows Movie Maker is pretty good for no extra money!

Thanks for tip on window movie maker. I just used it and it works well. But do you know how to convert the clip (that is saved as a window movie maker file ".MSWMM"extension) to an .wmv or .mpeg format? -- so that it could be attached to a powerpoint presentation? Tried attaching the ".MSWMM" format to the presentation and it didn't work...

Unfortunately, MS looks to have re-invented Betamax!!! You'll need to convert to DV-AVI and then you can convert again.. I think, I'm on my way out to work, so this is rushed.

Did you get any video editing software bundled with the camera?
