Optio S4, Windows 98 USB 1.1 Compatibility?

I've just bought an S4 but am unable to get Removable Disk x to appear. I have installed the driver etc, had help from Pentax UK, tried all combinations of uninstalling reinstalling etc but no luck. Other USB devices including Printer Scanner, Palm, old camera etc work fine.

I've bought a SD card reader/writer and that works fine and kinda gets me round the problem but I suspect that the camera is basically not compatible with Windows 98 maybe. Has anyone else found this or is there one last thing I can try?

If you look at the thread on the optio 33LF lower down, there does seem to be a compatibility problem between Pentax's and Win 98. Personally, I always use a card reader for digital work mainly because I find it quicker and easier. Looks like you are stuck with the reader.
