Optio S12

Camera new at Christmas 2008. Takes fine photos, looks good on PC monitor. Looks terrible on TV screen through AV lead. Tried on different TVs, tried memory card on another S12 (courtesy of local dealer) but with same lead - looked terrible.(Camera not bought from there so didn't expect him to open new lead etc. Have checked settings - on Pal. Anyone else had similar problem? Only thing not tested is new AV lead. Can I get a non-Pentax lead to fit?

TV's aren't very good at reproducing colours (they have a reduced gamut)and have very poor resolution compared to a PC monitor. I've never yet found any TV (including £1000+ plasmas) that could show pictures from a camera with anything like the fidelity you get from viewing on a computer (or better still in print) so I don't think the best lead in the world would make one iota of difference.

The only thing you can do is wait a few years for TV technology to catch up I'm afraid...

Thanks, take your point but....other cameras (Sony, Olympus) show up MUCH better.
