Optio S Shutter speed

Is there any way to set the shutter speed? Is there a mode that has a fast shutter speed on this camera? I was taking pictures at a concert last night but the shutter speed was really slow so the camera took the picture after the person had moved.

I'm afraid there's no manual adjustment that can be made to the shutter speed on the S. You can try manipulating the other settings however, such as, WB, ISO and EV.

To minimise the risk of the shutter lag that you're experiencing, practice holding down the shutter release button halfway. This autofocuses for you and when fully depressed, it almost instantly takes the picture.
