Optio L30

My daughter had an Optio S5z that we returned to Pentax for repair due to a faulty zoom mechanism (they repaired it once, we had to pay, but then it broke again so luckily the repaired part came under warranty). After waiting 3 months, they contacted me to say they couldn't get parts for the S5z and would send a new L30 in replacement. My daughter has complained that the L30 picture quality isn't as good. I can not find the L30 for sale anywhere and I am worried that pentax have fobbed me off with a camera that has been discontinued but don't want to complain in case it is my daughter making a fuss about nothing!...Does anyone know anything about the L30, is is about the same 'quality wise' as say the S7?

A similar question was posted to another forum a while ago:

Apparently it's a rebranded M30.

The spec of the L30 is here anyway:

It's 7.1 megapixel - so should be a good model, I think. S5z is only 5 MP. I don't know about the lens quality, but I'd be surprised if it was worse.

I suggest giving it another chance, then if still not happy with it, sell it on ebay and find a second-hand S5i (similar to the S5z and reliable in my experience). There should be some change left over!
