Optio 430 - no shutter release

I have exactly same problem with optio 330. both red and green lights come on at half way press but won't take picture. Sent it back to Pentax for examination merely to receive an 'estimate' for repair of £95! Camera hardly used from new though out of guarantee on time. Havn't accepted estimate yet and having read some of the similar problems on this website am reluctant. Anyone know an answer or repairer in the York area>
