Online printing service.

Hello all, I would like to enquire as to who the best online printing service is. There seem to be so many of them but who in your opinion does the best job?

I recently received prints from Photobox and they all seemed desaturated, the colours were dull, nothing like what I see onscreen. Now I do understand that this can be an issue with what you see on screen being different to what actually prints, but the work I do on my computer gets printed all the time and I never have issues with desaturated colours. Which makes me think Photobox is not a good printing service.

If you can let me know who you guys and gals think are a good service I would really appreciate that.

I agree about Photobox, I've used them a couple of times for calendars which were OK but the free prints I was offered were not up to Jessops or Boots standard - in fact slightly bright and over-saturated.

I have used BPD Photech for some 12 x 18" prints and they are well above High Street quality, seem to show detail well and the colour balance is good (though after my first set I lightened darker areas to bring them out in the print).

Not overexpensive either if I remember.

I think I'll have to try a few different places. I want a cheaper place for printing loads of regular family pics, and a quality place for printing other images for framing and such.

For quality & value you can't beat DSCL for prints 18x12inch and below.

Anything larger then I recommend Peak Imaging


To get accurate prints you do need to make sure you have a good workflow (colorspace etc) and that your monitor is calibrated

I have a very good monitor, an Eizo, which is calibrated well. My fulltime work, which gets printed regularly, is done on this computer and I'm quite happy with the results.

I received prints from Pixum today and they were nearly perfect, I was very happy with them. Some of the images were the same that I got printed with Photobox and the contrast between the two was quite obvious. Pixum was good, Photobox was dull.
