Super idea - and a talking point with your grandchild.

I'd be happy to have either of them individually on my wall.
But as a pair, they don't quite work for me. It's taken several looks over a couple of days to realise why. It's because the point of focus seems to have changed. My eye goes to the dandelion flower in the first, the blue flower (forget-me-not?) in the second. That feels slightly uncomfortable and detracts from the 'same but a week apart' message. Having the point of focus in the second near the centre of the decaying dandelion flower would be a better match to my eyes. But perhaps I'm just being overly fussy...

Inventive work John, and I agree, lovely processing.
The colours in particular are pleasing to me: a delicate touch which makes a change from the overly saturated style that is popular on the Interwebs.

Thanks everyone for the comments
Steve - you're right of course, but there was no planning involved - just two individual shots that appealed at those moments. I always struggle to pick the right focus point with this type of image - I could of course stop down significantly (or "stack" ) but that often loses the softness of the overall image - I did once take about 30 shots of a flower head stepping the focus point from front to back by a fraction for each shot, the following hour of processing and evaluation led nowhere - the first and last 10 or so shots were disposed of quickly but the remainder all had their merits
Thanks Nigel - I'm a fan of less saturated colours in these type of images, as you say there seem to be so many bright and saturated photos around now it makes me think I should get my eyes recalibrated

Beautiful pastels LennyB, both work wonderfully.
