I got the 18-270mm at a good price and have been pleased with it. I find using a tripod is best especially at the mid to upper range where f/11 seems ok. It does cut down the weight I'm lugging about so can have days out and only one lens covers my needs. I have some images in my portfolio taken with this lens. Hi Tyronet,
Have you used the 18-270mm in inclement weather yet, please, and if so, how has it fared? The only reason I have not bought one is that I am unsure if like the 55-300mm WR plm, the 18-270mm is dust and weather sealed. I look forward to your reply, Thanks and regards, Joe.

The 18-270mm is not weather sealed, but it is a nice lens to use.

Hi Joe, I only had the old style Pentax 55-300mm non WR. If I was replacing it I would get the WR version but usually have a good idea of where I'm going to and probable weather I factor that in to what I am taking regarding gear so could just get by with the 18-135mm or the 16-50mm both WR. A lot depends on where the coach or car will be parked so can make the final decision once on location. A decent brolly doesn't add much weight either
