On first holding a 645d

I went into SRS the other day. Great shop with the biggest range of Pentax you could hope to see, both new and used. After making my purchases I was encouraged to have a play with the 645d - the first time I had seen one 'in the flesh'. All I can say is Wow! what a lovely camera! Just beautiful to hold, with a heft and quality feel that made me want to reach for my credit card immediately and to hell with the consequences I managed to restrain myself but I do think that it is a shame that there are so few places where this camera can be handled instead of just viewed on the net.

I'm now having daydreams of standing at the platform end at Forest Gate station with the other togs waiting for a steam hauled special to come through and seeing their faces when I casually pull a 645d out of my bag Childish, I know, but woudn't it feel great?

I've resisted the urge to even hold the 645D. I know it'd be fatal
(Park Cameras had one when I picked up the teeny tiny Q)

Yep, I've been to SRS and succumbed to that temptation - beautiful camera to hold, lovely pentaprism to look through, and I was able to have that tantalizing dream of travelling the world and capturing it at 40 megapixels....

Fortunately for me there's no way in hell the bank would permit that transaction! I'd recommend handling it to anyone though.

Perhaps in 10 years time they'll be going cheap second hand.

I got to hold one at Focus on Imaging - and I agree totally, it really does feel like a really well-built, quality piece of kit

I wasn't too tempted (as it was a few thousand dearer at the time), but I have kept hold of my favourite 645 lenses "just in case"

I held one a SRS too. Lovely piece of kit.

If I had the odd few thousand lying around twiddling their thumbs... I still wouldn't buy one . (The odd few hundred thousand, and I might consider it, but that needs a lottery win .)

Chris also let my sister-in-law hold it. That was a heart-in-mouth-moment given her propensity to break anything valuable she holds. She managed not to drop it, and loved the feel of it too. She could afford one, small change for her , but she is happy with her little Olympus P&S.

I went there too - in 2011 - and handled the 645D. I too was very tempted, especially as Jacobs(RIP) had a deal which threw in a second lens. But I just could'nt possibly afford it

I agree, I played with one at Focus a couple of years back and at one of the SRS open days. Just oozes quality but as everyone else says, I'd have to win the lottery to be able to afford one.
