I have an old Vivitar 70 - 200 F3.8 Macro Focussing lens, the serial number start 42xxxxxx, that I bought in the 1970s to go on my ME. If it helps - the filter size is 58mm. I've struggled to find out anything about this lens on the various forums, and it's not even listed in a lot of the catalogues.

Can anyone enlighten me?

There is a web site dedicated to the vivitar 70-200mm lenses, do a search on Google. Would do it for you but I'm on my mobile atm.

I've found lots on the 70-150, but not the 70-200. My Google search returns a couple examples sold on E-bay auctions and a request for info for a Nikon mount version on DP Review - nothing of substance on the 70 - 200.

Are you sure it isn't the 75-205 f/3.8 as I've had one in the early days complete with matched multiplier.

No - it's definitely a 70-200. The serial number would indicate that it was made for Vivitar by Bauer, but that's all i can find out
