myself and my dad have recently bought a Pentax k-m and we have our old film SLR lenses they fit the k-m fine but i am having trouble getting the lenses to work i.e. actually take a picture do any of you guys use old lenses rather than the new digital auto focus jobbies? If so help would be much appreciated, I realise that the new lenses would be much better but for the time being I would like to use the old ones

and I would just like to say what a wonderful forum I’m sure I will be appearing often for help and advice and of course give advice where i can

Have you set the "allow use of aperture ring" in the customs settings to "permitted"

You haven't said exactly what the problem is, so I am assuming you can't get the shutter to fire. ??

I don't have the K-M but I guess its the same as other Pentax DSLRs
Click on "menu" and you should see 4 tab menus across the top of the screen. "Custom settings" is usually the last tab, scoll through that menu until you find "Allow use of aperture ring" and then set it to "Permitted" Hope that helps.

No problem, what lens is it you are trying to use?? Does it have the "A" setting on the aperture ring. If you move it off the "A" it will cause the same problem as described above.
