Old Bellows Camera

This started after reading an article in the AP supplement about using bellows camera lenses, macro bellows and mounting them on DSLR's.
I have a bellows plate/film camera that belonged to my father. It appears to incorporate a tilt/shift feature. How do people think things would work out if you could mount a K20d via the bellows camera backplate. As far as I can see the bellows are still light proof, lens shutter and aperture settings operate.

Sounds great if you can fix it to a K mount adapter and have a good lens on the other end. My guess is you would have to keep the shutter open and simply use the K20's shutter to shoot and the aperture ring on the lens you use - or were you hoping to use the lens that came with the original camera?

IF I am thinking of the same Ap articel as you - it was a good'un. Superb stuff with insects and image stacking!

Yes I was thinking of using the original lens, as it seams to be pert of the tilt/shift set up. There is a "T" setting on the lens so, as you say, I could hold its shutter open and use the K20D shutter. The aperture would be preset so I'm assuming you can use the green button to get an exposure.

The supplement came with the AP dated 24th April 2010.

Ah-hah - I haven't seen the supplement you refer to. Last week (17th) there was an article on using bellows for extreme macro which I found really interesting!

Yep a T setting should hold the shutter open. Also depending on the lens etc, are you liable to get vignetting? I guess you'll have to just try it out! All the best! - a potentially very cheap way of getting a tilt/ shift set-up!

You can get ready made adapters on eBay for this sort of thing, or if you have a scrap lens with a K-mount you could probably make something yourself fairly simply.

After replacing the bellows on my Iston 4X5, I made an adapter to mount my K200D. With a 127mm lens from a Polaroid, it can do pretty good macro.
