Old barn (Converting to sepia)

Larry (Bobbinalorry) propose to try sepia and I made two lightly different conversions, but I can't say which one is better. It depends on viewing angle how they look on my laptop's display. Here are both conversions:

I always find there are so many different tastes to mono pictures. I think I prefer the first as the second looks a little too light to my eyes/monitor. Overall though I wonder if the pic needs a little more contrast. Not sure what post-processing application you use but if you have photoshop or elements, I would have a go with the 'levels' tool or with curves to try and boost the contrast a little, or you could use the contrast/brightness controls. Just my view though

I was going to say more contrast, but then the lack of contrast gives it a more vintage faded look.

Second one is better 'exposed' on my monitor

I prefer the 1st even though the trees are a bit on the darkside.

personally, I prefer the lighter version as I feel it gives a more 'Aged' look. However, that said, the power / 'phone lines across the image show that it aint that old

Scores were 2-2. I wish I had old CRT-monitor to use. They waren't so sensitive on wieving anle and also easier to calibrate.

I like the first one. I think you should try to clone out the power lines. It would make the picture more "timeless".

Now the power lines are retouched out and I added more contrast:



Places where power lines were are still be seen, because we know where thae were. Maybe if I use more time to retouching the pic, power lines can be taken totally out, but it seems not be very easy thing.

Having come to this post late I missed the original shots but I agree there are traces of what I assume were the power lines just above the front row of trees.

Just a thought - I'm not even sure if it's possible.

Can you cut the lower part of the picture along the dark tree top line then slide it upwards to cover the ghosts of the lines.

Same her, the originals don't seem to be here, but I think cloning other tree parts over the most obvious parts would fix it. Nice conversion.
