Odd angles

I'm sure it's a sign of impending madness, but I sometimes like to rotate an image or shoot at an odd angle, usually to fake an abstract look or to omit some intrusive element. Here are two from recently, any C&C appreciated.

I'm afraid neither really works for me. Nice conversion in 1 though!

I like them too, particularly the second one.

They're disconcerting and disorientating to me. Good to try something differnt though. The buildings are excellent subjects. I love photographing modern architecture.

A.
Best wishes,

unless the suggestion is illegal, immoral or significantly dangerous, try anything and find out what happens.

I find no.2 to be an interesting abstract, my eye is fascinated by trying to figure out what it is.
you don't have to be mad to post here

but it does help

They both seem to lack some killer element which I suspect is the sky which is a bit wishy washy.

No. 1 for me. The composition is nice, and it's clean and sharp.

I think you have it there, lack of interest in the sky.
I like the building in the first one best but the sky is??? well not really anything.

Thanks for the comments everyone! I agree about the sky, it wasn't the best. Unfortunately it's been a bit rubbish here for the last few months

I like no.1
Those apartments look familiar, Tim. Are they the ones on Hills Rd, Cambridge?

Yes Matt that's the ones! On the other side of Hills Road from the blue Travelodge. I'd been to see Avatar in the cineplex next door, the 2nd shot is the car park where I parked

Tim,

Perhaps try the second image in BW?

It might take the focus away from an intrusive sky, and put it onto a great structure with some strong, photogenic lines.

Alternatively, you could replace the sky using a mask?
