I'm also with pic 2. The first would look great IF it was a lone tree but I think it's a bit cluttered where as go in close like you have done in pic 2 just works so much better and it really works more the light and the trees form.

Thanks for the comments - Gareth, I think you're right about the clutter in #1, so I've done a bit of a re-work - not as close in as #2 but maybe an improvement?

I like the graphic silhouette of 2, and the mood of 1 (no need to rework it in my view).
