Still loving it though and there is nothing wrong with beans on toast either
It's called LBA. Very contagious, no cure found yet. Best to do is go with the flow and accept your illness.Very annoying and potentially expensive, so my question is will this continue?

Then hope for a understanding and forgiving wife, and realise in your daughters case, being a waitress is still a noble profession.
Best of luck with your struggle.
Martin.
PS, before I forget...There is a support group for the really miserable and hopeless cases. It's found here.

I've bit of the same problem though.
Lenses are mostly fine but bags...
My first bag was to small and now I find my second bag to big so Now i'm looking for something in between
With lenses, i first bought a macro lenses. very expensive but I knew I would like it and so I did luckily. A I also bought a lens with a large zoom range. Now that I know what range I like I sold the lens and bought the DA*50-135 that fits my need perfectly. I've my eyes now on a wider lens... maybe the DA*16-50 since that makes a nice set but I don't really need it.
With try pods... don't buy cheap. Just don't try to cut corners to save money there but just get what you want. If you cut corners you won't be happy so will buy a new one 2 years later. If you've a good tripod you might buy a monopod later and get a different head and so your collection grow in that.
I hope it makes sense, just see your camera gear as an investment. It wont cost you a lot of money since it holds his value quite well and will also bring you joy.

Thanks for the replies and nice to know its not just me then
Still not sorted on the bag or lenses front, getting there though I think
Got lucky with a secondhand tripod (Manfrotto 055CB) and splashed out on a nice Cullmann Ball Head for it
Luckily for my marital state it has thus far been self financing from selling off a lot of my old mountain bike frames and parts.
Not only raised money, but got in the good books because photo equipment takes up a lot less room and is considerable cleaner (kept a couple of bikes though)
Not quite convinced my daughter about the waitress bit as yet
Cheers
Rich

You just need to make some money with your photos and the problem is solved right, so go outside and get better

Don't think this will ever do anything other than cost me money, but thoroughly enjoying it which is what mattersYou just need to make some money with your photos and the problem is solved right, so go outside and get better
This place is great too, very friendly and adds to the pleasure

Interestingly, the back page of this weeks Amateur Photographer (6 June) has the same article where he reckons it is actually 4 attempts!

AARRGGHH NO, please don't mention magazines, deliberately avoided them, only just cancelled the last of my biking mag subscriptions.
Daresay there is a wealth of reading material on this subject full of nice photos and even worse adverts for shiny things
I will resist

Just think very carefully about what you want to shoot and buy the best quality lenses you can afford to do the job. Then you can always satisfy your LBA by watching out for rerasonably priced classic bargains on evil-bay.
PS; dont forget the remote control and the flashgun and the spare battery and the grip and the filters and the bean bag and the sensor cleaning kit and the lens pen and the charger for the flash batteries and the stone bag for the tripod and the LCD protector and the angle finder and the portable reflectors, and the studio lighting and the spare SD cards and the card reader and the flash bracket and the handstrap and the ever ready case and the sherpa to carry it all

I always say "when the quality remains the price is forgotten"
I bought a 190xprob tripod, seemed a lot at the time but it should never need changing.

What does LBA stand for - I suspect I have it.
Though perhaps I am fortunate in only having limited opportunities to address my affliction - there is nothing available here in Ethiopia, though I'm moving to Sri Lanka soon where I might be more vulnerable.
Also, as the summer holiday in Europe is imminent, this is for me a time of especial vulnerability. Last time, I was back in the UK, over Xmas, I got carried away by sudden exposure to equipment at SRS, coupled with the Pentax cashback inducements and my VAT-free status, and ended up buying a camera & three lenses. Haven't regreted it mind - the lenses and camera are great and were a bargain IMO (K20D effectively cost me just £350). The good news re. this visit is that I actually feel I got all I need on the Pentax front last time (for now, at least) - the bad news that I do have a craving for an LX3 or similar quality compact.

I seem to have a pull towards bags,I often wonder whether I could have bought one bag when I started. Not on your life!!This is very amusing for my girlfriend who often comments on my compulsive behaviour
At the moment I need to change my K200D and buy a K20, only had it 6-7wks-what is that about.:
I've certainly got the bug-is this a male thing I wonder, chopping and changing kit, exchanging stuff is, well ::
I enjoy it :
Taking shots is good too

So far my list includes Lenses,Tripod and Bag.
Very annoying and potentially expensive, so my question is will this continue?
Do hope not because with my daughter off to university picked the wrong time for this new financial adventure.
Got a bad feeling it might affect me for a fair bit longer yet
Still loving it though and there is nothing wrong with beans on toast either
