Now who would do a thing like that, George?

George, you only turn on or off your own notifications.
If someone wants to follow the progress of one of your images, they can turn on their own notification for it, or turn it off again when they've seen enough.
Hope that clarifies the way it works.

I would certainly never do it - except once to prove a point! Now who would do a thing like that, George?

Well, yes. And I did prove a point - but not mine!
I didn't read JR's post carefully enough. When I switch on notification against somebody else's image, it's me who gets notified, not the somebody else.
I suppose it might be useful if I leave a comment and the snapper responds.

A doubly useful feature, then!

This is in response to your comment on one of my pictures.
I have been occasionally embarassed to find a question on one of my pictures that has gone unanswered because I didn't know it was there. The new notification system should stop that.
The only problem, however, is that it looks to me as though I can turn other people's notifications on or off. That can't be right.
