Some real drama there in both of them. The water spray over the lighthouse looks like some grotesque sea monster has been stirred into action! The high contrast between the white spray highlights and the deep mysterious sea all around works very well.

North Pier Tynemouth is top notch in my book. Just love the darkness and the blue tone.

WoW - wish I had been at North Pier with you Stan - suspect I would have filled a card trying to get one like that

Hi Stan. Nice shot of the north pier. The times I've watched that kind of weather and waves like that breaking over the pier in my youth (Before cameras) for many years is uncountable. The house I was brought up in was in South Shields at 90degrees to the photo you've taken. Straight across the harbour up through the park and my house faced straight out to sea. The wind is the problem. We call it the lazy wind. When it reaches you it's to lazy to part and go round you, it just goes straight through you. BBBRRRRRR cold.
CHEERS Vic.
Born again biker with lots of Pentax bits. Every day I wake up is a good day. I'm so old I don't even buy green bananas.

These are superb Stan, both real corkers. The light is pretty special on the first, but the second one is just outstanding.

Two effective shots which prove we should try to get out with or cameras no matter how unpromising the conditions.
Best wishes,

Andrew

Comments, yes. I don't think you'll get much criticism for those two. Drama done two ways!
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Really like the North Pier photo - the timing and the foreground lighting are wonderful.

And it's nice to see a different, more real world view of St Mary's lighthouse for a change.

Great stuff!

Very nice Stan... Tynemouth Pier in particular is great... Big weather, great light, and the pier doing the job it was built for...

Best

Great shots Stan especially the 2nd, although I'd be tempted to clone out the swimmers
