Nikon lens on K10D

Hello there,

And yes...I've got some nerve posting such a first post...it's called "a girl with an attitude"!

Anyway....
I just got a K10D, new to Pentax system, I figured I could use my nikon 35AI 1.4 on the DSLR...(no no no the truth is: I am broke and can't afford a 30mmf:1.4)
I would need an adaptor ring though...
Has anyone done this before?
Any piece of advice, any clue?

I find I can immitate canon and nikon glass, by simply smudging fingerprints all over my pentax lens, then oversharpening my files in photoshop.

seriously, go to a store with a good selection of used lenses. Explain your prediciment, and see if you can swap the more popular nikon, for something pentax.

It can't be done.

First, even if you can find an adapter, it will not be possible to place the the lens close enough to the sensor to obtain focus on distant objects (with a wide-angle that's anything over about twenty feet).

Second, you will lose all automation, including stopping the lens down when you press the shutter.

Old Pentax K mount 28mm lenses can be found very cheaply on Ebay. Metering can be a problem with the K10D, but nothing that can't be overcome.

it was not about "imitating"nikon lenses...it just happens that I have one left, and would have loved to use it...
and my guess is the Pentax M 35 1.4 are not that common...
anyway if it CAN'T be done...I won't try it!

please don't take offence at my daft sense of humor.
I'd bet that with a reverse adapter, you could mount that lens to another pentax lens and get some great macro shots!

It's the rarest Pentax K lens that there is!

But your Nikon should be worth a bit. Enough, perhaps, to get a second-hand Pentax 31mm Ltd. Then you'll have something quite superb (and I am not knocking the Nikkor, which is a great lens).

sounds dodgy to me, could wind up with all sorts of trouble. There is a link in that thread to a proper adaptor, but since the difference in flange-to-film distance isn't great enough to allow space for a proper adaptor, it's an optical one. This will act as a short tele-extender and degrade optical quality somewhat.
