New Website, comments etc appreciated

It' about 5 mile up the road from my home, pass it everyday on my way to the office.

Can't see anything at all here
I click on a heading... and an odd graphic appears and nothing else.
If I click on "About" or "Contact" then the messages appear though.
The choice of "Times New Roman" font is a bit hmmmm

Works better for me, but you definitely need something more than the blank page when the site opens. I would suggest your favourite image rather than opening with the about me page.

The Home page, About, Events and Contact pages are WIP, you should see galleries for Portraits, Fashion, Landscape and Nature from the appropriate buttons.

Font changed and homepage image added

I'm now not seeing the header image, or any of the links to the seperate galleries, although the links do work, but they're all 'hidden'.

I'm using IE7. Had a look earlier and could see it all fine.

Also, the frame that holds the images has a scroll bar on the right hand side, which doesn't look too pretty.

Hmmm, just tried it on the little Netbook using IE7 and XP (same as the desktop) and it looks fine too, so will try the desktop again later.

Hi all,

You have to have Java AND Flash player installed, Slideshow Pro galleries need both.

I know there are pro's and con's to using Flash, you either like it or you don't but Slideshow Pro for Lightroom is an excellent addon, very easy to create and maintain galleries.

Aha! I didn't have Flash 10 installed and Firefox just showed nothing at all. Nada. Diddly squat.

Reckon you need some Javascript to check the currently installed Flash version and show an appropriate dialog box. (Or it could be Flashblock on FF - but normally that lets me see something!)

Opened in IE and the first image was bigger than the holding frame - eek! And then tried to view the galleries and the Flash upgrade dialog appeared.

Something tells me you need to do more testing on multiple browsers At work we check every main browser (Opera, Safari, FF, IE, Netscape, Chrome, etc) and there's always one that doesn't play ball

Just tried again on the desktop, and still the same as last night. I can see the slide show, and navigate that no problem, but the header image doesn't show, and I still have that scrollbar.

Umm!!! back to the drawing board I think, I did all with Iframes and layers, will have another go tomorrow

Well, that shouldn't be a problem generally (well, not for my computer at least, I used them for my own, still on the back-burner, redesign).

I just don't understand why the background isn't showing for me.

Edit: Just tried to open the background image, which I believe is at http://www.brianlawson.co.uk/images/Haylo.png , and got a 404 error, so if that is the right address for it, that's why it's not showing in my browser.

Hi Dan, Just checked the remote site, Haylo.png is there, the correct path is http://www.bjlawson.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/images/Haylo.png.

Just wondered how many of your photos were taken with your NIKON, should you really be asking us Pentax Users to judge your website? why not ask some Nikon users!!!
