New web site

I've decided to have a separate web site dedicated to stills only rather than one which combined stills with tv work which I thought was confusing.

All comments and criticism of the new one are very much welcomed, particularly in the areas of browser compatability, usability and look.

It isn't finished, as you will see, and doesn't have many pictures on it yet.

I value your input so please let me know what you think.

Basically, it works the way a website ought to work. No nonsense, no clever stuff, just the content. And easy navigation.

It was nice to see again a couple of pictures which I greatly enjoyed in the past - the b&w shot of Stirling Castle, and the slightly strange person viewed through an oval window on the Glasgow Underground.

Perhaps this thread should be a sticky to show other people how a website ought to look.

Hi Steve, your website is very good and your right click and left click protects your images, but I think your watermark spoils the photos, but that's just my opinion,

The only one fault i can say is the image watermarking is too much

Thanks for all your kind words, I must confess that the speed and efficiency is 95% down to Photium and 5% down to my choices!

There are two types of watermark used, one with the copyright message at the bottom and the other with it all over the image; the one of the dance groups is a purely commercial shoot which I initially posted on my old site. I reckon I lost £700 to £1000 in print sales because the members of 'Facebook Generation' ripped them off. At least Bebo and Facebook have now removed them from their websites.

I suppose you could argue that since i have disabled right-click I could dispense with the watermarking, but you could still press 'prnt scrn'.

My paranoia know no bounds.

Simon, I notice you copyright mark your pictures too but haven't disabled right-click.

I also enjoyed the simplicity of your site, worked perfectly for me and I did not encounter any difficulties in the use of it. Looking forward with interest to its completion.
P.S, Whilst commenting I would just like to say I enjoyed your black & white images immensely.

In Opera, you just go into the cache and the image is there. Also, you can disable scripts on the page, and use right-click anyway.

I have a huge collection of your stuff, Ken, and thanks to the use of the Unwatermark tool they look great.

George! you shouldn't have bothered going to all that trouble. I would happily have given you limited edition, gold toned prints in return for more of your enjoyable, pithy and erudite comments.
