Hello all... Just recently cleared out the basement and found a black Pentax MX my Auntie gave me as a child (30years ago) and after having my first roll of tri-x developed have become obsessed! Now setting about acquiring nice primes for it (recommendations welcome!) which is how I stumbled across this forum... Thought I'd say hello!

Hi Bobby, welcome to the forum, lovely camera the MX especially the black ones I still have a couple of silver MX's. Some of the K series primes are highly regarded, K 28/3.5, K 85/1.8, K135/2.5 would be a good start assuming you already have a 50mm lens on the MX.

Thanks for the welcome, John, and the recommendations!
I do have a 1.4 50mm which is the lens that amazed me with that first roll... I've also picked up the 135 you mention, so I'm looking forward to trying that out. Will look out for the others for sure.

Hi Bobby, well you're definitely going to like the 135, it's a beautiful lens, enjoy. I must dig out the MX for an outing some time in 2012.

MX, my favourite film body, even above my LX's. Give it some stick and be rewarded with excellent results.

Best regards

Welcome to the forum Bobby! I ordered an MX the other day. Couldn't find a sensibly priced black one though, so I'm well jealous! Very handsome looking camera.

It's funny - when I first looked up what I had online I was disappointed it wasn't a chrome one... Then I noticed that the black ones are more scarce and sought after (not to mention pricier) and I suddenly, inexplicably found myself preferring the black version! Just goes to show how fickle we can sometimes be without realising, I suppose! The important thing is, it's a lovely camera either way and it helps me take good pictures in a way that feels good... I'm very, very pleased that I've rediscovered it, anyway.

got to love the old ones. I've still got my grandad's K1000 with a 35mm lens on it. light meter's broken for the 3rd time though

it's £60 to fix too...
