new lens (da 18-138 wr) recording as unknown on my K20 !!

LR shows NO lens info. and PhotoMe gives :

Unknown DA or DA* lens (Id: 8 215)

Is this normal with newer lenses on older bodies ? does it record ok on K5 (K7) ??

Doesn't record correctly on K-5 either.

Don't think either programme has been updated since the 18-135mm release though.

ACR/Lightroom and Aperture have not been updated for some lens ID codes.

The lens ID is just a number that the camera gets from the lens and stores in the EXIF.

Your PC software is the guilty party as it can not translate the ID to a name. And indeed because the lens is too new.

And it's oh so easy to solve this with a little text file or a menu option so the user can add new lenses.
