Can you post that at full size somewhere I can download it - how did you focus? If it's anything other than a centre focus then who can tell what the camera chose to focus on?

I've had results like this using Auto but I think I'd be OK with centre or select mode.

I contacted Sigma at one stage but they failed to reply!

PS I took some shots this afternoon one with just tree brancahs and at 100% you can see it's fine but the background is well out of focus and another at 1/20th and again the focus is fine. I'll post them if you like. But in each case I knew where teh AF was trying to get its focus.

I have been in contact with Sigma service and they asked me to send some sample shots to them.
They confirmed that there is a fault with the lens, saying that it was consistently "front focusing" and offered to recalibrate it.
Armed with this information I contacted my supplier (Devon Camera) who are going to exchange the lens and throw in some microfibre lens cloths to cover my inconvenience.
My advice to anyone who thinks there is a problem with soft images, is to contact Sigma service who were very helpful.
Excellent service from 2 organisations.

I bought my lens from Devon Camera Exchange and received first rate service as well. It was a shop I haunted 30 odd years ago when I was a student. I think I bought my first Leica from them.
