Hi,

Another SRS customer, VERY pleased with their service so far.

The new K20D though rattles. When I hold it in one hand and just gently tip it back and forth, something inside the body is sliding back and forth also. I can not only hear it, but feel it. I removed the battery and it was still there...is it something to do with the SR?

cheers Steve.M (back in the Pentax fold)

Don't worry, it's normal. Yes it's to do with the SR and floating sensor.

Yes, it's the SR. Perfectly normal - all K20D's (and K10D's) do the same thing.

This comes up so often I wonder if Pentax ought to put a sticker on the camera to warn people!

It is an illusion that photos are made with the camera… they are made with the eye, heart and head. Henri Cartier-Bresson
Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Maybe something in the manual, a sticker on it like "the rattleing is normall" isn't going to be a lot of comfort

That assumes people read the manual Stefan

It does actually say in the manual that the camera can make these sort of noises and explains that it's to do with SR. It says it very clearly actually within the first couple of pages if I remember correctly. Personally I've never noticed it, apart from when I'm in live view with SR turned on.

Exact quote from my K200D Operating Manual (page 15):

Shake Reduction (SR) on the K200D features a PENTAX original
system which uses magnetic force to move the image sensor at high
speeds, compensating camera shake.
The camera may generate some operating noise when it is shaken, such
as when changing the composition of a picture. It is not a malfunction.
