I wouldn't think this is a cause for concern. Depending on where you are and what the supply chain is, your K10D could have been despatched from the factory some time ago.
This will be true of all digital cameras, well, all cameras and probably most other non-perishable goods.

AKAIK all K10Ds have 1.0 firmware from the factory, I don't know of anyone who has received one with a different version.

I would have thought that a little silly since V 1.3 is required for SDM to work. Of course that doesn't mean it isn't true, but it does seem a little stupid of Pentax.

I bought the Magic Lantern K10D guide, according to that newer stock should have the newer version of firmware instaled.
amosstarz;
Dont worry about it, just upgrade the firmware to the latest version, as John says, different stockist will have varying turnarounds, it doesn't mean your K10D is any less better than one that comes out of the factory tomorow.

Wierd, I bought mine three weeks ago with version 1.0. Doesn't bother me though... brilliant camera. I've just spent the last few weeks learning how to use it, and I'm still only halfway through the manual.

I'd recommend the update nonetheless; it adds support for the new DA* lenses, wireless flash capability and a few other worthwhile tweaks. Best of all, it's easy to do and free!Wierd, I bought mine three weeks ago with version 1.0. Doesn't bother me though... brilliant camera. took delivery of a K10D for work the other day, fresh from SRS, v1.0 firmware.
I'm guessing the distribution channels are mixed up and it's taking time for the v1.3 equipped bodies to filter through. Doesn't seem unlikely given the mad scramble for Pentax gear there has been since the K10D came out.
Still the flash procedure is painless, just follow the instructions and make sure your battery is fully charged. It's well worth doing.

Sorry, I have already updated to 1.3 - I just meant that I'm not bothered that the camera came with 1.0.
