welcome philipcosson, you made the right choice i had a pentax k100d super to start with sold that for the highly reviewed sony a350, image noise was terrible on the sony and it felt like a toy, sold it after 2 weeks, now have a k200d and a k20d, both knock the spots of the sony,
I use uniross hybros or some sanyo enolopes thats what i use in my k200d, i have a set of each,

Welcome to the forum.
I use ordinary rechargeables in my "200d, but understand Eneloops are good as well, a lot off people on here are using them.
As for Macs, the Apple users will advise, if not just post another question in the relevent forum. Some one will know.

I'm going to be different, I use the Energiser lithium batteries, I bought a load cheap, they last so long I wont have to buy any more for a few years, i even use them in my flash kit.

Hi Scott, A Sony A350 with kit lens just sold on Ebay for £250, about the same price you would get for a Pentax K100.

hi loskeran, i would have the k100 anyday, the live view was good thats about it really, and the 18-70mm lens was terrible,

Hello and welcome. Get also a spare batteries set. A charger you can also connect to a lighter plug in a car is a good idea. Have fun

Welcome to the forum.
I downloaded the trial of Aperture from the Apple web site but it did not really give me anything I needed. I use Iphoto 08 for organising images and Photoshop Elements for editing. Aperture has more powerful organising abilities but more than I needed. I am used to Google's Picasa for Windows and now it is available for the mac I also use that as it works well with Iphoto (ie it doesn't mess up the library files)

I just went down to Currys to buy a Sony alpha 200 and came away with a Pentax K-m instead!
It was the free 50-200 lens and £50 cash-back that did it.
I haven't been able to use it yet though as I have a 2gb SD card at work which I can get on Monday.
some questions to be going on with...
it takes 4 AA batteries - does anyone have any tips, which rechargeable to use? I have some hybrids i was going to use.
