Very odd. I don't think I can steal my own image....

All I get is the notice.

Odd, the first time I opened it there was a notice stating "Image stolen from the Canadianphotoclub.com - do not hotlink". Having pasted the link into a new browser window, it now shows up in the post.

Yep, got the notice too, but does show up in a seperate window if you paste the URL in.
They've obviously got some kind of nifty software to stop people pinching the pics (or at least embedding them straight in a page via a link), but that's not much use to John!

I see the image straight away, but then I use Opera so maybe that makes a difference. Interesting photo, more original than you would expect from a church visit!

Just tried it in Opera, but still got the 'stolen' notice...

How odd! I have no trouble with it! In fact I just tried it in IE and could see it too. :

I've checked with the Canadian Photo Club, which is where it was posted, and they tell me they prevent hotlinking to avoid "bandwidth thieves" using their server facilities.
It would seem the blocking is not 100% effective.
You can see the image in this thread on the ADAPS website, where we have put it on the ADAPS server.

So do you like the image? Any comments?

Hi John,
Sorry, it was only Gwyn who actually commented. To be honest it's not really my cup of tea, but you've executed it well, and it's got a nice feel to it. The blend of the elements is just right, and not something I would have thought of doing.
Had I been in a church, with free rein to do as I please, I (and I suspect quite a few others) would have been looking at the ceiling, stonework or pews, so full marks to you for coming up with something different.

yes, it appears you've had more comments on the "stolen" notice than the pic itself!
So John, I like the picture, very creative!
This kind of image always looks nice a little "gritty" too... maybe some film grain and pumped contrast..... but I digress.
Nice composition mate!

Interesting approach John, I think I'd prefer the music to be slightly fainter as I find it distracts from the rose on the keyboard, which is the main point of the image. I might also have cropped out the brown at the bottom of the picture, so the keys formed the base of the picture.
This afternoon whilst browsing the web, I stumbled across the following website http://www.apogeephoto.com/tech_archives.shtml and was very taken with the articles on gestalt theory by Michael Fulks (apologies to well-trained or well-informed members who have come across this all before)
In his article on Composition…A Primer on Positive and Negative space Michael Fulks ruminates on the distinction between seeing photography as a craft (i.e. technically well executed) and art. I think John's picture definitely leans to the artistic side, though craftfully rendered.
Edit:-
I didn't mean to suggest that John's picture wasnt technically very good too!

We had a night shoot at Leigh Parish Church. Everyone had a good time taking photos and climbing up turrets and towers that are not normally open. This is a picture I made from images taken on the shoot.
