Thanks guys. I really like this HDR thing. Even single PEF makes good HDR-like shots like this.
This picture wouldn't be possible with 5 single PEF's due to the movement. A single PEF still brings out a lot of details in the final picture. It is all about the tonemapping. Which is quite hard to figure.

Stupid question probably, but am I correct in assuming that you change the exposure when handling the PEF to get 2 or more TIFF files that you then stitch on top of each other? Are you using a particular tool for this?

Yes I sometimes use a single PEF like in this shot. From the PEF I kept the original shot and made 4 new TIFF files. I changed them in pentax lab - setting the TIFF +1,+2,-1,-2 (EV compensation)Nimitz wrote:

I then took all 5 TIFF files and used Photomatrix (HDR - programme). After Photomatrix did the HDR image I used the tonemapping part of Photomatrix as well. After that I used Photoshop to crop and add a tiny bit of USM.
Hope that answer your question.....Btw did you like it?

Sorry, yeah, I liked it a lot and that's the reason I decided to look a little more into this technique. HDR addresses a problem I've been having for a long time. Hope that answer your question.....Btw did you like it?
Thanks for the details on how you made it.

You can download the trial version of Photomatrix. It adds a few watermarks to your pictures - but you could still try it out before you purchase the full version.
(note - it is sometimes easy to remove the watermarks in PS - cloning)
