The A 24mm isn't bad at all and if need be crop the image. To save missing things set the lens to its hyperfocal setting. With the A24 That means setting the focus and aperture to the red distance (7ft/2.2m) & aperture (f/11) markings and you should be good to go for most things instantly. Useful for street photography to take a photo from the waist without the subject being aware and with a 24mm you'll have space to crop to straighten it up in PP.

24mm or 28mm... I just use f/8 and INFINITY everything from about 5ft to INF is in focus. DOF is all about the diameter of the aperture not calculations based on the smallest DOT you can see on a 10x8.
The Petri 28mm f/2 looks handy. I was looking at these on Flickr this morning....

I have the Petri 28mm f2, I was really surprised by how good it is. And it can be bought for peanuts. 24mm or 28mm... I just use f/8 and INFINITY everything from about 5ft to INF is in focus. Some really good advice here, I'll try out the 24mm with f/8 and infinity and also lining up the reds - on my Pentax-A 7 ft/2.2m aligns with f8 but I like the idea of f11 when the light is good enough.
I made a typo in my post when I said I felt 24mm was a little too wide - should have said narrow, I think 20mm is what I am after, however having said that I am enjoying 24mm. I got the autofocus 31mm if I want to narrow the angle of view.
Anyway it's nice to see some members here express their views. A sample of 17 does not reflect Pentax users preferences, just the preferences of those who took part, and we are indeed few in number.
Setting aside the three unhappy people, and the happy APS-C shooters who like what they have or what's already out there, most of the K-1 shooters (7) seem to be interested in wide angle primes, one being happy with third party offerings the rest looking for Pentax to release something new. One other happy chapie/chapess either isn't into wide angle or perhaps has all he or she needs with wide angle legacy primes - until now I hadn't appreciated how many of these lenses there are! Anyone selling?
The good news for Ricoh is that they might sell six primes - subject, no doubt, to pricing; wish list does not always convert to shopping list! Still, I am sure Ricoh will indulge us six.

Not to worry, with so few voters, the poll has no real value other than that a few of us would like the forecast Pentax wide angle lenses on their roadmap - irrespective of whether we wish for or already have the K-1.
Although this means the poll should be ignored the contributions and advice were worth it for me.

The FA* 24/2 AL [IF] isn't bad at all. Prefer it to the Sigma which I also have.
Looking for a FA 20mm f2.8, I adored the old K f4 version which got stolen, I have an M version which lacks something by comparison.
K 17/4 Fish-Eye (OK not AF but pretty well could be fixed focus!)
Intend to get a K 15 & K 18 when I see them for the right price/condition, mainly as collectors items rather than to use though. AF doesn't matter with 20mm or less as one can have from several inches to infinity in focus with a small aperture and what's wrong with twisting a focus dial anyhow!?
If Pentax brought out a new wide angle it would have to be competitively priced before I considered purchasing it. I'm pretty happy with the old lenses given chromatic aberration only really rears its head when pixel peeping. It is when using the older lenses on APS-C it gets magnified and might be a problem. I find CA with the older glass used at its intended 36x24 isn't normally a problem other than with some of the cheapie F and FA consumer zooms which weren't sold as top rate glass; and some of those can be bad veering on unusable!
Also have the Samyang 14mm and 12mm Fish-Eye. Not AF but at that focal length AF is unimportant and both are fine and fit for purpose probably at less than a third the cost of what a new Pentax equivalent would be.
So not unduly worried whether Pentax bring out a new FF wide angle or not, I've more than enough to be getting on with!
