New camera, old shift lens

As some of you may remember, I keep hoping Pentax will bring out a new shift lens as the SMC Pentax 'K' 28mm f/3.5 shift is not as wide as one would wish on APS-C (although it rocks on 35mm film). As I have recently got a K-3 I thought I'd try out the lens. See picture below. Not the most exciting of images, but the quality looks good and there was only minor fringing which Lightroom dealt with easily enough.

One thing which was great, however, were the dual levels in live view making setting up the image a breeze. On some of my film cameras the hotshoe isn't square to the film and so using a spirit level doesn't work as well as one would wish. Shame that carting my large format rig about on holiday isn't really an option.

Funny enough, I had a chance to get out with my k5 yesterday and I have not had much of a chance to play much with my recently acquired K 28mm shift lens so took it along. I must admit I forgot about the built in level!

I did try a couple of shots with both the K 28mm and the DA50-135mm of the same subject. Not using the shift but just as a comparison of the two lenses.

Must admit, this lens is a bit different and It will take a little time to really get used to it but I think it is worth the practice.
