the tammy 28-75 F2.8 is excellent but some say the build quality is poor, I must have a good one
bought my second hand for £225.00 and used it at the weekend for low light photography

I'd agree with that - I'm pretty impressed with my copy too.

Andy - as a general purpose walk round lens, the DA* 16-50mm is hard to beat. I took one with me to NZ/Aus and it the 6 weeks I was away, it rarely came off the K7. The other lenses are all much more mid range zooms with a wide angle equiv of 36mm at best, 42mm for all the others. Depending on what your planned use for the new lens is, this may or may not be a material issue. My interest is more towards landscape than anything else, so wide angle capability is important. The Pentax lens will give you the equivalent of 24mm - wide enough for most urban landscape shots in my experience.
Some of the early copies suffered from a back or front focusing problem but Pentax seem to have sort this out as the thread covering this has long since gone "inactive".

Hi Andy - the Sigma 24-70 ( one I used to own , is a superb lens as davex says ) but that sort of price is very over the top.
