That's a rather good butterfly photo. And a butterfly that knows how and where to pose, too. Like it a lot!
To be honest, with this sort of photo I can't tell from just looking which version of the K3 was used.

Thank you for your nice comments. Having been unhappy with the DA*300 for conventional use I am starting to warm to it for closeups such as this one.

Care to explain 'conventional use'? For me, a butterfly shot is conventional use .

Now that made me think. Birds and out of normal reach things were why I bought the lens. Since then it has gradually transformed into a lens for maximum magnification at shortish distances (the sort of distance that won't quite spook a butterfly etc.). Both birds and butterflies are now 'conventional use' for me.
As for non-conventional use, that means attaching a Q to the back end and reversing a Q-01 lens on the front end...
