Hi Philip,

get yourself a card reader, and just use that to download your picturwes direct from the card.

Cheers

Hi Philip,
As LiamD has said use a card reader it's better and faster, also while updateing your Camera software You could update your Raw Codecs as well, Adobe Camera raw 4.6 (www.Adobe.com) and Pentax site for the Pentax Raw, While your on the Adobe site there is a DNG 1.2 codec for Windows so you can see Raw files in windows Pic/Fax.
Hope this helps

The best answer is the card reader.

I mean do the codecs work with XP? I thought they were just for Vista.

DNG 1.2 is for vista, but the other 2 would help you.

Service Pack 3 for XP appears to have some glitches. At least at work we were advised not to install SP3 on the office machines. If you have SP2 installed earlier, I would try to uninstall SP3...

As I recall SP3 initially had issues with some anti virus programs and also trashed something and was withdrawn and then reissued. For the little it's worth both my PCs have SP3 on now and seem fine and recognise my K10D just as before.

I'm not sure if it's possible to uninstall SP3.

Only by wiping the machine and reinstalling everything from scratch.

Best wishes, Kris.

However, let's not be gloomy as this isn't the problem. I think the s/w has installed some drivers that hijack the USB connection to the Pentax so that the often repeated advice of getting a card reader should work fine.

Also SP3 seems not to have done anything bad to my PC's which is a relief.

thank for yours help, but i think that the problem is not in sp3, the problem is in the upgrade of the k10d because in my 2do pc i have the problem without sp3.
thanks philip
