My wedding diary

In my ongoing search /desire to learn more, I've volunteered to be an appie for a friend. He is taking the photographs at another friend's wedding and I thought I'd learn something from him - eventhough the poor misguided sod uses a C*** system.

Besides really good, comfortable shoes - does anyone here have suggestions on how to be the best appie the Bible Belt has ever seen?
What should I avoid doing - shadow in picture, falling over church pew, . . .?

You could try and add some spice to the occasion by availing yourself of one of the T-shirts mentioned in this article:

I've ben the recipient of plenty of the long glances and polite, tight smiles that welcome a foreigner making social boo-boos!
I know that black is the new white, so the t-shirt might work, but handing out literature might make the bride a little tense.

Forgive the newbie, but I can't get my head around one thing: how will this help me develop as a photographer?

I'd have thought that if he's any good, you'll pick up loads of tips on the practicalities of photographing people in groups, posing them, relaxing them, keeping their interest etc - all the people-management aspect of it all.

I'd be surprised if the fact that he uses Canon equipment makes the slightest difference.

ChrisA - I'm looking forward to learning more - my friend is an awesome photographer and the tools he uses enable him to do this. I really don't care what system, I'm after the skills!

Thanks for your help
