Digital or film?
If digital, the *istD.
If film, my preference is for the MZ5, MZ5n or MZ3. Very versatile, but fully manual in the original Spotmatic sense if and when required.

And if you can do without autofocus, the Super A, preferably with the SMC Pentax-A f1.7 lens. (The f1.4 is very good too, but rather more expensive).

I'm a newbie to photography and wanted to buy a Pentax as my first camera. Ideally im looking for a camera that will do or have the following:
1) Allow me to have full manual control of settings i.e. shutter speed and aperture. So it doesn't have to be a manual camera, it just has to go competely manual when i need it to.
2) Lightmeter
3) Compatible with a wide range of lenses
I'd be grateful for any suggestions at all.....
