Don't shush! We like to hear how people get on with their equipment!

It sounds like you could probably achieve good results with your existing Tamron 90 - a teleconverter would allow you to effectively increase the focal length while still allowing you to focus to 1:1 (although image quality will suffer slightly), extension tubes would allow for magnifications greater than 1:1 (but are really only suitable for tripod work). Of course, using tubes and converters isn't as convenient as having a dedicated 200mm Macro lens but it will be a lot cheaper!

Good luck with the Raynox and let us know how you get on.

sorry to break the present train. I am into macro and even with a tripod, my clumsy hand can take the focus out. Have anyone tried the infa red units or even the cable release and do they help? any suggestion and guidance would be welcome. there are several potential infa red units, some very cheap and others not so...help!!1

Either will help enormously. I have both but usually use the Pentax remote as it fits nicely in my camera grip. The only problem is that it is so small I am always mislaying it! If you model has the option, go for the 2 second delay to allow for vibration from the mirror.

Best wishes, Kris.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

With a sturdy tripod as a base, they will definitely help.
Although I use the two second timer and have had good results without the need for cabled or IR remote.

But when you don't have two seconds to stand around and wait, either the IR remote or cable remote work equally as well, as far as eliminating any additional possibility of shake.

edit: argh beaten to it. Should not have turned around for the sip of tea...

Have just been on a forum that tells that you can use an infa red remote used for tv's etc. It's one of those cover all situations. Anyone tried one of these in the U.K.

If you are still interested in an answer, I used to have a generic remote control which would trigger my cameras.

I tried all the remotes in the house, and one button on one remote worked.

However, you can get very cheap remotes on Ebay which do the job and are much smaller. You also don't have to remember which button to press.

Thanks for your comments, George. I now have a cable release from SRS and added a long extension. This is working fine for my macro but will still be looking for a wireless for snapping birds and squirrels at my bird feeder site. Still am undecided on the wireless model. There are some seemingly cheap versions..but I would normally go for the best...Can you suggest which is the best for my K10? regards Ron.

This is a question for George Lazarette. Where can I get that adapter to hookup a canon lens to my Pentax K20D. By the way nice photo's.

These people (link) will make you up an adapter to attach pretty much any lens to any camera you want - just don't forget that Canon lenses won't focus to infinity on a Pentax so they're only useful for close up / macro work.

I have a K20D and I was wondering if anybody else has experienced this. I turn my camera on and nothing happens and the only way I can get it to go on is to take the battery out and re-insert it. It has happened a few times already.

You should post this as a new topic under the 'Troubleshooter' section as it's not relevant to this thread.
