Certainly not for BIF capture due to loss of A/F through the 2x T/C. EXIF data shows f/8 maximum.and the maximum aperture is?????????

OK, now I'm not sure. [quote:3496ace15f="wvbarnes"]and the maximum aperture is?????????
I just took a couple of shots, adjusting the aperture to any setting I like - f/4 to f/32 - and they were obviously exposed differently, and now I'm wondering if the camera lying to me, as I thought I would lose 1-stop with the 1.4x T/C (giving me f/5.6 max) and one or two more with the 2x.
Input focal length is 800mm, the maximum available on the K-5IIs. Curious.

You lose 1 + 2 stops = 3 total.
If the lens shows f/4 wide open you need to add 3 stops to all apertures shown.

would you be better off with just the 300 + 1.4 and cropping? you info in camera would be correct and iq may be better than with the 2 converters?
I will try shooting with both options and keep any worth saving, which in my case is always very few.
