Great shots!
I've seen a few Little Owls but never close enough to get any shots.
The DA*300mm with the 1.7xAFA has become my favourite "long" setup. Easily hanheld and very little loss in IQ over just the 300mm on it's own. So good in fact that I gave up on the idea of getting a 500mm Telephoto altogether for the moment as this serves the purpose so well.
I've seen a few Little Owls but never close enough to get any shots.
The DA*300mm with the 1.7xAFA has become my favourite "long" setup. Easily hanheld and very little loss in IQ over just the 300mm on it's own. So good in fact that I gave up on the idea of getting a 500mm Telephoto altogether for the moment as this serves the purpose so well.

To be honest I prefer to use the Sigma 150-500. However, I was loaded with wellies, tripod and the 12-24 in the hope of catching sunrise on the beach. So loaded the DA300 as opposed to the 150-500 to lighten the load

Really superb Alan, I've seen a couple of Little Owls on When we stayed in the countryside of the South Downs a couple of years ago, but never close enough to photograph.
