Sorry, I posted on the Film SLR Topic area...

Just finished a twelve page fashion shoot for "Issue One" Magazine UK, using the K10D for the first time. I basically used the 21, 40, 70 and 16_45 lenses. Unfortunate that I can't upload images here.

there are 3 links to photo sites in benjikan's signature. But I'm not sure if these were taken with the k10 or not.

The first 6 images on the two first URL's are from the K10D's...

Hi Ben,

Welcome to the forum, very good to have your input here and experience to tap into...

Have been reading through your posts since joining and enjoying looking at your work - WOW is the only word to use...

I have a couple of quick questions if you don't mind, I'm sure a few of us will be intrigued to know...

1./ What made you decide to switch to using the Pentax K10D - looking at your work on the websites it's clear that you've been doing more than OK with your 'old' kit?

2./ What do you feel is its single biggest plus point and/or major flaw with the K10D

3./ What's your favourite lens so far to use? And why?

Cheers!

Hello Will;

As I stated in an earlier post, I have been using Pentax professionally for over twenty years in the Medium Format venue as well as many other formats. My first SLR was a K1000 and in the SLR pro area, I started with Nikon in 1980 and switched to Canon in 1987 because of their excellent AF system. I know that the K10D is a grand leap in the right direction that sets a precedent for future evolution that is of great interest to me. I am also very interested in the 645D which will come out in the near future as well as their other DSLR developments. Again, as I said in other posts, most of my published work is in the magazine format and 8-10 mega pixels is more than sufficient to show the finest detail in that type of support. If I am doing a huge poster and magazine campaign to be expedient, I will shoot medium format digital, just to ease the clients concerns regarding quality of reproduction, which I consider unsubstantiated, as I have had my Canon 10D stuff blown up to 5x3 meters at the 3rd Festival of Fashion Photography in Cannes, France. None the less, I turned the page and decided to switch from Canon, which is a very fine product and give Pentax a shot. No pun intended. As a result I am no longer being sponsored by Canon and am now officially sponsored by Pentax, France. I particularly like the 40 and 70mm limited lenses and the 12-24 and 100 macro. I will be receiving the 16-50, 50-135 and 31 shortly. As you may know, I have had some issues with the 21 and will use it, but with greater vigilance. As to the K10D. As I have told Pentax, France, the K10D should have an X-Flash Synchro input for cable in case a radio controlled unit for studio flash is not available. Sticking the hot shoe adapter on the camera is not a very elegant solution. As I haven't used the K10D professionally using anything higher than 100 iso, I have not come up against the banding issues expressed on several forums. The most I have ever used on a shoot was 800 iso with Canon and I would have no problem doing so with Pentax, if that was the desired effect I was seeking. None the less, the K10D is a fledgling technology, that will only improve over time. We shall see what we shall see...won't we?
