Nice work, especially nice colour with a slght vintage look.
How was the working distance with a 55mm macro?

Thanks, I can't really compare it to other longer or shorter lenses. But I guess 55mm or anything shorter would be really good for objects that stay still (discount the wind factor). If I were trying to shoot a bug with huge eyes I think I'll struggle without tubes.
All in all a very good working distance although I had some problems trying to view the viewfinder when I set the tripod at its tallest (Needed a stool!)
I should've mentioned I struggled to get an accurate shot without a tripod, or at least some kind of leaning support.

The narrow dof would make shooting almost impossible without a tripod, especially with wind as another factor. Do you have a flash set up for macro?

emmm, nope, don't have a flash setup either! I've just been going handheld and hoping to have enough natural light and go with catch in focus! (pathetic way, works sometimes though).
I might get a flash unit when I decide that I'll do some proper macro work.
